Because their survival depends on us.
We believe the wild is not just part of South Africa. It is part of who we are. And together, we can write a different ending, one of hope, resilience, and survival.
We are more than a conservation organisation. We are a community of people who refuse to imagine a South Africa without its wildlife.
Somkhanda Game Reserve is a 12,000-hectare community-owned Big Five reserve in Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal. Established in 2005 through South Africa’s land restitution process, it is now a sanctuary for critically endangered species like black rhino and wild dog.
For over a decade, Somkhanda has been at the forefront of community-driven conservation, protecting biodiversity while uplifting local communities. Our story is one of hope, resilience, and the power of people to protect their wild heritage.
